Travel Bug News – Spring 2017

My last holiday abroad was a working holiday in Galilee, Israel on a Kibbutz which is an egalitarian community.  Work was for about 4 hours per day in the morning and the afternoon was mainly spent relaxing round the pool.

Meals were provided with free board also in the volunteer house with new friends made from countries such as Sweden, Denmark, South Africa, Russia and even as far away as Australia.  The Plane there and back was on an open ticket of 6 months and I stayed for 3 months.  The jobs were varied but hardly strenuous and weekend evenings were spent at the Bunker, a makeshift nightclub on site.  The Kibbutz I was on also had a Hotel on it with paying guests.

A few years ago I bought a book in a Charity Shop entitled ‘Africa on a Shoestring’ and the travel bug is biting to visit at least one of the 60+ Countries in that great Continent with Tanzania and the Serengeti National Park seeming the favourite.  It would have to be a good experience to beat a Kibbutz working holiday.

You can find travel magazines that highlight places of interest and adventure as an alternative to the typical beach holiday or expensive manmade resort.

I have a book entitled ‘1000 Places to See Before You Die’ which you can see at Qureshi Travel at 140a, Blackburn Road, Accrington in Lancashire.  The nearest place featured to Accrington is the Lake District which is in Lancashire & Cumbria.  As far away as India the first mentioned Place is the Palace on Wheels.  The Travel Shop has recently signed up to Twitter with the username of @QureshiTravel and they do Holiday Packages for when you are ready for planning a deserved break.  Tel: 0778 4173 137 or Click Here

Ethics in Business

On Monday 13th February 2017 during #BlackburnHour on Twitter I found out that @BIBAs2017 had blocked me as the previous week I had tweeted them to ask if they had an award for Software.  They replied that they didn’t but pointed me towards their website to see if there were any other relevant categories.  My full name is Damian John Paul Brown – @EnglandRovers

I went to their website and found myself looking at the sponsors of the awards.  By the way, BIBAs stands for the ‘Be Inspired Business Awards’ and is run by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and they claim on their website, the BIBAs is the ‘only one they all want to win’.  Forget Olympic Medals & FA Cup Medals and the like!  Soz if that spoils your Marketing Hype!  I Cottoned On To What The Tories Were Doing When They Added A Tree To Their Party Political Logo!

As soon as I saw the Headline Sponsor was Cuadrilla, the fracking company, I tweeted the @BIBAs2017 people back with something like ‘Sorry @BIBAs2017 I can’t take part in an award ceremony when the main sponsor is a company that rips up the countryside’ and left it at that.

After #BlackburnHour had finished I decided to do some research on the BIBAs and Cuadrilla but there are other sponsors of the BIBAs that you may like to do some research into yourself.  They are quite clearly listed on but for ethical sake and to be fair to Cuadrilla I will list them here.  Abbey Telecom, Aston Services Group, BAE Systems, Commercial Kitchen Service Ltd, Community Foundation, Department for International Trade, Intersys, Investec, Lancashire Post, Mad Florists, Moore & Smalley, obas, Preston’s College, RTR Digital Agency, Grandma Singleton’s, Slater Gordon, Smooth Radio, TNP, UCLAN.

The Chairman of Cuadrilla Resources is Baron Browne of Madingley who was Chief Executive of the energy company BP between 1995 and 2007 where it says on Wikipedia that during his tenure in 2005 BP’s Texas City Plant had a fatal explosion which killed 15 people and injured more than 170 others.

You Can See The BIBAs Website at & Make Your Own Decisions About Their Sponsors But I’ll Try My Best Both To Highlight Unethical Business Goings On In Lancashire Including Drug Dealing Both On The Street & By Pharmaceutical Companies and Banish Such Practice From Lancashire & Drive Them Down South To Somewhere Like The City of London Where They Belong Among All The Other Sad Plebs – Are You A Sad Pleb?  If So Go To The City of London & See If Anyone Speaks To You!

The Social Media Gain

Twitter is not just for communicating online to people you already know but is there to help you to get to know more people who could turn into valued customers.  Being based in East Lancashire in a close knit community does not limit you to sales within that community.  In that same community I have reached customers from Yorkshire, London and another place in the South.

The customers aren’t rushing to my door because shoppers don’t do that any more.  Through Twitter I have sold books, some piece of tech from the 1980s and an Eiffel Tower.  I don’t claim to have travelled to Paris but it was a keyring and for repeat custom I have a model Eiffel Tower in stock.  These sales were not done using an online auction site and only the piece of tech 1980s was done through PayPal which was easier than sending cash through the post or setting up a bank transfer.

I’ll be honest with you and tell you that I have bought more online on an auction site than I have sold over Twitter but back in 1995 I was selling prints of famous footballers from a website and receiving £1 coins attached to a piece of  card from places as far away as Malaysia.

2017 will be a year of many surprises and on Twitter you get to know about things from around the Nation or Globe in a matter of minutes after they have become newsworthy when they Trend on Twitter.

You may be thinking of starting a small business and wondering what to sell online.  It needs to be easy to package and not weigh too much to keep postage costs low.  You probably know people on Twitter who would trust you to provide them with a product or service.  You can start off locally and then progress further afield with hardly moving out of your home.

Backpack – Blackburn with Darwen

Why would you like to visit Blackburn with Darwen, Lancashire in the North West of England when there are so many so called beautiful cities to visit around the global village we are all virtual citizens of?

Blackburn with Darwen is there to explore and learn about life, Buskers will greet you with a tune on the penny whistle or guitar.  Every now and again there will be a violin player.  That is just a start and it will make you feel at home when you drop 50p in a hat to show your appreciation this Christmas.

Avoid the main shopping area altogether, walk round it by all means and do a bit of window shopping but your budget won’t stretch to line the coffers of logo familiar companies.  Ask an Asian where Whalley Range Bazaar is and on your way there you will come across Lancashire Trimmings where you can get advice on what material you could buy at the many material supply shops at the Bazaar.

On the corner from Lancashire Trimmings towards the Bazaar is Meena Bakery where you have such a big range of baked on the premises food to choose from you’ll hardly believe your eyes.  Whether you need a Birthday Cake or a snack to keep you going make sure you try the Cashew & Almond Treat.  Did you know that Cashew Nuts are high in Zinc which is good for growth and has many advantages?

Take your time in the many Material Shops spaced around the teardrop shaped Bazaar and choose wisely.  When you are ready for something more to eat you can’t beat the 7” Seafood with Mushroom Pizza with Garlic Sauce from Pizza Island not to mention the friendly service when you mention this Blog.  Ask for Mohamed Ali Alwan & ask him about Garlic Sauce Bottle Sizes.  If you can’t get to Blackburn, Lancashire by Christmas Eve ring 07890566647 to order your Sauces in time.

People of Orgreave – Living in a Vacuum

People of Orgreave

Living in a Vacuum – 6/11/2016

The Establishment, i.e. the Central Banks & Mass Media and certain individuals, are the ones who control the Puppet Politicians who are basically told to pit the poor against the poor also known as divide and rule.  They also try to make good working people ‘feel’ that they are middle class no matter how stressful life can get at times.  See Trump v Clinton USA 2016

I read or heard somewhere that the Primeminister of the 80s said that her greatest achievement was the Primeminister starting late 90s.  I’m not sure if someone was just taking the mickey or she really said and believed it but he visited my old Secondary School and when I made a visit after that there was a framed photo of him hung up in the reception area and as I talked to an ex-teacher who had taught us RE & History I pointed to the picture and said, “He’s had his evil mind in here.”  This was before the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan that many innocent people are still suffering over.

I live in Blackburn, Lancashire but attended Huddersfield Polytechnic and one Saturday I went as a neutral from Huddersfield to watch Sheffield Wednesday play Manchester United at Hillsborough and what stands out, as I can’t remember the score, is the crush going on in the away end until a gate was opened into another pen for the Man U fans to escape like ‘sheep’.

I thought of writing to the Directors of Sheffield Wednesday but felt they wouldn’t take any notice of a student.  This was before the Hillsborough Disaster and when that latest inquiry started I regretted not taking action at the time in the late 80s.  Hashtags >>> #OrgreaveJustice #BankstersOut

I watch the BBC News channel sometimes and tonight saw a lady from Orgreave explaining the current situation there so I decided to visit the place where the Establishment types mentioned above dare not tread.

Dambro Sport #VenkysOut

Dambro Sport –

Elite Sporting Equipment + Sport Apps & Unisex Leisure Clothing

At Dambro Sport we take all sports seriously but also believe there should be a bit of fun in general exercise for the good of the health of the UK.

We have decided to launch our website service in preparation for opening a shop in Blackburn, Lancashire so that we can get the message across that we, as fans, are not happy with the current situation with our local football club languishing near the bottom of the Championship, the old 2nd Division.

Our first item of Unisex Leisure Clothing to be offered online is a Blue Sweatshirt with a slogan in White emblazoned across the chest, loud and clear, the popular Twitter Hashtag (#) #VenkysOut so that as you walk round this great town of ours in silent protest against the current owners who are understandably out of their depth, it may wake a few people up to the best thing that makes this town great, remembering 1995 and 3 FA Cup Wins in a Row over 100 years ago,  that something serious needs to be done to once again gain control of the destiny of the team we love and support by fans who don’t want to see us relegated at the end of the season.

As one we can turn it all around and see a better team performance and club reorientation by Christmas & the New Year.

Uncle Jack (R.I.P.) was born on Randal Street which is now part of Whalley Range Bazaar, there is a Plaque a few doors away from Royal Fashion before you reach the Pharmacist which is on the corner, it would be a good thing for fans to pay their respects at the Plaque a couple of hours before each home match and then seek refreshment at Pizza Island before walking peacefully to Ewood Park on matchdays to support our great blue & white team and improving football club.
